FIGURATIVE METAPHORS EXHIBITION

Figurative Metaphors, an exhibition
featuring the work of Russell Keeter
and Sergio DeGiusti, took place at
the Birmingham Bloomfield Art
Center, October 6-November 10, 2000.
The exhibition was curated by
Sergio DeGiusti, honoring his
colleague and friend Russell

BRONZE PORTRAIT OF RUSSELL BY SERGIO DEGIUSTI

This is a bronze portrait of Russell Keeter
sculpted by Sergio DeGiusti in 1985. It
is owned by Russell's wife Ann Keeter.

RUSSELL KEETER WITH EUGENE CLARK

Eugene Clark assisted Russell Keeter during
the late 80's until Russell's death in the
early 90's. These pictures were taken
in Russell's studio, located in a historic
carriage house, on Ferry Street, just
north of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The purpose of this photo shoot was
to create some photos to be used on
a poster, for an anatomy workshop
the two artists would conduct together,
at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art
Center, and The Grosse Pointe War
Memorial.

LETTER FROM MRS. MILLER TO SARKIS SARKISIAN

This is a letter dated April 3, 1966,
from Mrs. Rose Miller, to the head
of painting at CCS, Sarkis Sarkisian,
praising Russell Keeter's teaching
methods.

Russell Keeter used a long stick with
a piece of compressed charcoal on
the end, to create in-class drawing
demonstrations of the bones and
muscles. Here are two examples.

Russell Keeter was an avid
handball player, and won
many national and international
competitions. This is a cartoon
that he drew, regarding the sport.
