This blog is dedicated to the great anatomist Russell Keeter who taught at the College for Creative Studies for over 25 years and made a major impact on many artists. If you would like to contribute images of the artist's work, or memories, please email: eugclark@hotmail.com
Great memories of being in class. That is
ReplyDeleteJohn Fredette in the foreground. His work
was incredible. I used to sit behind him in
class, just to watch how he mixed colors.
In figure drawing class, Russell would
come around and say "let me sit there".
In painting class, because we were at
easels, he would say, "let me stand
there", with his southern drawl.
Wow! I studied with Mr. Keeter in the early '70s. He was a tough teacher. To say he was hard on me would be an understatement. I studied in his figure drawing and figure painting classes for a couple of years and I learned soooo much.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing man! The perfect mix of creativity and technique. He is missed.
