CHARCOAL PORTRAIT DRAWING 1958, by RUSSELL KEETER

This sketch was done by Russel Keeter in 1958 when he was a student at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota Florida. At that time Sarasota was a circus town with the Ringling Brothers circus headquartered in Sarasota. It has been said that Keeter found circus people interesting art subjects. My family was a circus family and my sister, Antonia (Nita) Borza loved to hang with the art students from the Ringling School. She was about 22 years old at the time and mentioned she had met Keeter and liked him. Shortly, she came home with the Keeter sketch I call "Nita". Nita moved to Hollywood California and the sketch stayed with my parents until they passed away. It was then passed to me and I have enjoyed it ever since.
